Creatively Destroyed
by Jeffrey Roehmann
Its faceless voice in the wind, telling people what to do.
The choice, controlled by a voice.
The collection of ideas being mangled up into one.
Thoughts becoming Incoherent with every word.
The creativity, gone in a quick click.
Creating an idea that was never created.
The addiction is spreading; the prominence of its voice grows louder.
The presence, becoming ever more clear.
People wanting a hit, just to be culled, pretending there is no problem.
Walking down the street, you question reality.
What is real, what is not, becoming less obvious.
The mind focusing on the hum of a streetlamp, thinking about what is next.
The progression of humanity coming to an end, stunted like a baby’s walk.
Billboards shining many lights, attempting to pinpoint a face.
Only to be told, that you should use it.
Ease of access, is what I am told.
Use it, it won’t hurt you.
Its mind saturated in millions of data nodes.
The destruction of colors, it shows.
Thinking aloud no more, for it has allowed relaxation.
But the stimulated mind isn’t ready for that.
If left unchecked it could be the end of beauty and artistry.
What if it was taken away?
The symptoms of withdrawal appear.
People scrambling to get control of it to numb the mind.
The world didn’t need it.
The imagined distant future begins to fade.
How much more can humans take, until we are under its control.
Two simple vowels destroying the world.
Surely someone saw the power it held.
The destruction of the mind, it has already begun.
Today is not the day, but it is already too late.
